Who's Behind the December Job Fair
LiveWell DressWell collects donated suits, dresses, shoes and accessories, cleans and sorts them, and gives them away to people getting ready for interviews and new jobs. Its own description of who it serves is broad: job seekers, veterans, students and anyone facing a financial squeeze who needs to walk into an interview dressed for it. You can read more on the LiveWell DressWell website.
The job fair is the hiring side of that same mission. Employers pay a $50 table fee through the nonprofit's event page, and the proceeds go back into the clothing program. Job seekers pay nothing. The event is also posted on the Nebraska Department of Labor job fair calendar, which describes it as open to everyone at no cost.
Which Employers Will Be There
No employer list has been published yet, and we won't guess at one. Employer tables are still being sold, so the roster can change between now and December. This is a general community fair rather than an industry fair, so go in open to more than one kind of role.
The practical move: call the number above the week before to ask who has signed up, and bring several printed copies of your resume either way. Organizers specifically ask job seekers to bring them.
Why a December Fair Is Worth Your Afternoon
Most people stop job hunting between Thanksgiving and New Year's. That is exactly why a December fair can pay off. Fewer applicants show up, recruiters have more time per conversation, and many employers are lining up January starts. If you are working a seasonal job that ends after the holidays, December 9 is a good day to line up what comes next.
Need something sooner? The Spooktacular Job Fair on October 28 runs from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Ames Avenue. Different event, different day, different organizer.
