What the Spooktacular Job Fair Actually Is

Heartland Workforce Solutions runs the American Job Center for the Greater Omaha area, and this is one of its few full job fairs of the fall. Most of its calendar is single-employer spotlights and workshops. The Spooktacular puts several local employers in the same room on the same evening, with a Halloween theme layered on top.

Past editions leaned into the family angle. When the fair ran in October 2023, a participating manufacturer described it as family friendly, with kids trick-or-treating at the tables while parents talked to recruiters. Last year's edition was billed as careers, connection and candy. HWS has not said whether this year follows the same format, so treat that as history rather than a promise.

⚠️ What Hasn't Been Announced Yet

As of this writing, HWS has not published an employer list for October 28, and no job counts or pay ranges have been announced. The event page also doesn't state an admission price. We're not going to guess at any of those. Call (402) 444-4700 the week of the fair and ask who has confirmed a table; that one phone call tells you whether it's worth rearranging your evening.

The 4:00 start matters. If you work a 7-to-3 or 8-to-4 shift anywhere from downtown to Benson, you can make it without burning a vacation day.

Make It a Full Day at Ames Avenue

The same building runs a Mock Interview day on October 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., closing an hour before the fair opens. Practice answers in the morning, then use them on real recruiters that afternoon. HWS asks people to register for mock interviews, so call ahead.

Two more dates worth knowing before the 28th:

  • October 14: Goodwill Omaha's Trades Job Fair at 4805 N 72nd St. Different organizer, different building, built for healthcare, construction, warehouse and manufacturing work. Our full Goodwill preview is here.
  • October 20: a resume workshop with Dynamic Workforce Solutions at the Ames Avenue center, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. A clean resume is the thing you'll hand out on the 28th.

🔎 Start Searching Before the Fair

North Omaha's job base runs heavy on production plants, warehouses, healthcare and service work. Searching now means you'll recognize names at the tables and can walk up already knowing what they're posting.

Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Heartland Workforce Solutions, 5752 Ames Ave., Omaha, NE 68104.

Do I need to register?

HWS posts a registration link on its event page. Registering is the safest move; if you're unsure whether walk-ins are welcome, call (402) 444-4700.

Which employers will be there?

No list has been published yet. HWS usually confirms employers closer to the date, so call the week of the fair.

Should I wear a costume?

Nothing on the event page asks for one. Dress the way you would for the first day of the job you want. A pumpkin pin won't hurt.

Can I bring my kids?

Earlier editions were billed as family friendly, but HWS hasn't said so for 2026. Ask when you call.

Show Up With a Profile, Not Just a Resume
